Famille Verte

Antique Chinese famille verte porcelain. Famille verte (fr., green family, or green palette) Chinese porcelain refers to biscuit wares, decorated with predominantly green accompanied by yellow, aubergine and white enamels, and to porcelains utilizing wucai (five color palette - also including red and blue) dominated by green. Famille verte is accepted as having substantially originated from the Kangxi period. But some discussion considers the rarity of undisputed biscuit wares in the palette. Of course later production exceeds that of the Kangxi period.
