Copper Red

Antique Chinese monochrome red and other copper red porcelain. Copper red monochrome porcelains were popular from the Kangxi reign of the Qing dynasty and onward. Types include peachbloom and langyao (sang-de-boeuf). Glazes range from a rich, uniform red ("ox blood" as the Chinese and French names suggest) to a soft hue with hints of green (peachbloom). A mostly 19th century variation, named flambe, exhibits a range of colors from red to purple resulting from intense heat and other factors - sometimes trending only to purple and with no clear red tones. Dozens of examples of copper red glazed Chinese porcelain are offered here for sale.
