Egyptian Faience "Djoser" Tile, 3rd Dynasty, c. 2650 BC. Faience tile with blue-green glaze. Size 6.1 x 3.4 cm. Smooth surface obverse with a projection and hole on the reverse for hanging. Small chip at upper right corner and along bottom, otherwise intact.

The blue faience tiles were made to resemble the reed matting of the king's palace at Memphis...

The arms are crossed and holding a pick and a hoe. The reverse displays a plain pillar and a basket with cross fibres on the left shoulder. The shabti stands on an integral base. Its facial features have been rendered naturalistically including the eyes, nose, mouth and ears...

THe title "Godfather of Amun" describe a permanent member of Priestly community from the Amun temple from Karnak.

Ipethemetes means 'Ipet is her majesty' or mistress or or 'The Ipet of her Majesty'

The hippopotamus goddess Ipet was worshipped as mother of Osiris at Thebes...
