A large rouleau vase of porcelain decorated with the Three Auspicious Gods (sanxing) of Daoism, in polychrome enamel glazes (famille verte style) on a deep, blue ground. Excellent quality of work. China, late Qing to early Republican Period, ca. 1900–1925. Marked with a Kangxi-period nianhao. H 46 cm. Condition: Excellent.

Scroll painting depicting a humorous Daikoku, God of Wealth and kitchen, brings prosperity to the household. He is holding a mallet and a sack and standing on a huge daikon / radish. Painted in Zen style, ink on paper. Inscribed and dated: Taisho 1924, sealed and signed. Picture size: H 87 x W 30 cm. Scroll full size: H 175 x 39 cm. Condition: fair, a few stains. Recent mounting.

A large brooch of Chinese export silver made in filigree technique backing and embellished with enamelling and a very good carved red coral piece in the shape of a beautiful lady. Stamped: “Silver China” on the back side. Size: Diam 5 cm x 5 cm. Early 20th cent. around 1910/20. Condition: good with only some wear to enamel.

A fine pair of matching square bowls on raised foot. Decoration: the inside, in the centre a gold takamaki-e medalion with a raised design of a couple of Reshiki stems in shakudo and hirame, on red ground, rim decorated with cloud pattern in gold on red lacquer...

A very attractive stand of natural, gnarled root wood with a deep honey color and very good details. Finely grained wood (cypress?) with dark recesses. To be use to enhance the beauty of a fine small vase, cup or scholar object as incense burner. China, Qing, probably late 19th century. H 13 cm, W 15 cm. Condition: very good and fine patina.

A beautiful brooch of amber ( MILA) of deep honey / mottled colour. Silver mounting. From Scandinavia, Denmark. Great quality amber. Weight : 15 grams. From before 1920. L. 5,5 cm W. 4 cm. Condition: good patina, some traces of age and use.

A good 19th century Ningxia Region pillar rug with a dragon motif. The woollen rug has a design of a blue winding dragon with open mouth; all around are Buddhist auspicous symbols like the flaming Pearl and clouds. Measurements: L 168 x 62 cm; L 66 x W 24,5 inches. Good condition.

A collection of 10 Buddhist and Bon ritual cards tsakli) painted with colors on paper from different sets, of which the most interesting and rare depicts a Wrathful Protector, 3 Vinaya cards and a Yogi belonging to the Bonpo school, and 5 Buddhist tsakli with ritual objects. Most of the cards have long inscription on the back side. Tibet, 19th and 20th cent. Condition: Of mixed quality, 3 in good condition, the rest quite worn.

Unique carved wood vessel for use in Tea Ceremony for flower arrangement, ikebana. Very smoothly polished and lacquered in the inside; standing on three small “feet”. It has a wonderful smooth patina all-over. L. 26 cm x 17 cm. Meiji-Taisho. Condition: great!

A very rare and highly charming porcelain figure of Budai (Daduze), bare chested with a laughing expression, seated leaning on his sack of treasures. Decorated in famille rose manner with additional gold. Two maker’s seals: “Fujian Huiguan” and “ Made by You Linji). ****These seals are identifying marks of the Jingdezhen artist working at Fujian Huiguan. **** You Linji was the artist name of You Zhangzi /You Linzizi ( 1872-1922 )...

A real cute, Kawai miniature Kyusu style teapot for green tea with a side handle, made in the tradition of (Otagaki) Rengetsu yaki, from Okasaki production center, Kyoto. Chamotte with a nice craquelure glaze. Size L 10 x h 4 cm. Otagaki Rengetsu (1791–1875) was a Buddhist nun, famous for her calligraphy but also for her production of ceramics for tea appreciation which she would embellish with her poems. Meiji 1868-1912. Good condition.

An impressive mokubi painting in ink and gold on silk depicting the Zen Buddhist patriarch Bodhidharma/Daruma in profile. Signed and sealed: Imai Tenroku (b. 1866), a specialist in the painting of Buddhist subjects. The present painting is dated Taisho 8 (1919). Fully inscribed box and paper w. artist’s data. L 185, W 52 cm. Picture frame: L 112 cm, W 40.5 cm. Condition: Very fine (at the bottom a small portion of the silk has loosened from the mounting).

A Tibetan single seat meditation mat (Kang ma type) of hand woven wool with the central field decorated with floral pattern in different colour on a deep red background; a meander frame in white on blue indigo is separating the central square from the outer border of floral design on rust colour. A large and impressive image of olive-green soapstone (shoushanshi) depicting the demon-catcher Chonggui in martial pose standing above the small image of a seated demon disguised as a Buddhist monk. Extremely fine details. Late Qing Dynasty. H 24 cm. Condition: Excellent.

An interesting, rare and unusual, Buddhist Dehua image of a meditating Luohan in a cave overgrown with branches, his hands holding a begging bowl. This is a well-known motif of the Ming dynasty. Done with very fine details demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship. Hollow modeled. Signed with seal on the back: He Chaozong. Late Qing to early Republican Period, ca. 1900–1930. H 16 cm. Condition: Excellent. Most probably a unique piece and extremely charming!

A Unique Sculpture for the Scholar’s table (Chinese: Gongshi), it looks like made of a kind of cypress wood, Interesting details, with hols and crevasses and high peeks creating an image of high flames with a brown reddish patina. Hard wood fitted base. Size: H 40 x W 23 x D 18 cm. China , beginning of 20 century. Very good condition, the picture do not render well enough the beauty of the piece!

A cute Kutani ware incense box and cover (Kogo) in the form of a mandarine duck (Oshidori) in typical Kutani color pallet: green, yellow, blue and black. The bottom part with Kutani stamp at the base. Enclosed in an inscribed old tomobako. L 8,5 H 5 cm. Late Meiji to early Taisho. Good condition.

A wood image depicting a Daoist Exorcist riding a horse, holding the Seal for the control of evil forces on his right hand and the bowl with purifying water on his left hand. He wears the typical long Tao robe and crown shape hat. On the back of statue, there is a covered niche for the storage of prayer rolls. Wood with colours with very good details. China, Late Qing Dynasty. H. 32,5 x L 19 x W 11cm. Good condition.

A very attractive and rare Pair of Mandarin Ducks OSHIDORI made of slightly modified and patinated root wood. The male wIth raised head and the female looking at the ground after food. Meiji, c. 1880/1900. H 16 cm, L 25 cm. Mandarine ducks are symbol of long life fidelity as they stay together forever. It comes with inscribed Storage Box Tomobako. Condition: Excellent

A well-made ink-stone box of heavy, rose wood (hongmu). The lid inlaid with thin bamboo slips to form a sentence of four characters reading: “Auspecious Blessings as You Please (Jixiang ruyi).” Late Qing, ca. 1900. L 24 cm, W 15 cm, H 5 cm. Condition: Perfect (very minor wear due to use).

A fine deep grey Saji river stone in the form of a miniature mountain landscape with high peaks and deep ravins; looking from the front and back sides there is a long passage in between the peaks, completely natural! The stone has a perfectly fitted rosewood base, daiza. Suiseki are highly appreciated for their aesthetic or decorative value in Japan but also by collectors in the western world...

A large and very impressive Bronze model of a male lion cast in naturalistic style as is common for Japanese export bronzes from this period. Glass eyes. Marked with a seal: Kyomitsu zo: made by Kyomitsu. Meiji, late 19th cent. ca. 1890. L 56 cm, H 30 cm. Condition: Excellent.

A small, attractive incense table on four legs in classical style with openwork in red Negoro-lacquer with the typical ‘rubbed’ surface to reveal the layer of black lacquer underneath. Japan, late Meiji, c. 1900. H 13.5 cm, W 20 cm, L 26 cm. Condition: Generally good (minor wear and a few, small cracks).

An attractive and rare group of rootwood ducks. Partly carved from the natural root with the legs attached. The gander with a natural stone around which the root has grown. Meiji, ca. 1850. Size: . H 15 cm, H 12,5 cm., H 10 cm . Condition: Excellent and with great age patina.

A charming painting in ink and colors on silk depicting a young, long-haired girl in traditional dress with her back turned to the viewer. Signed: Nobumaru (Mitsubumi 1812–1879), a late Tosa School painter in the Nihonga tradition. Exquisite mounting. Meiji, c. 1865–1875. L 182 cm, W 60 cm. Picture frame: L 109 cm, W 42.5 cm. Condition: Very good.

A small but very attractive album leaf in ink and faint colors on silk depicting a scholar on an outing on a river or lake. Signed: Yue An zhu ren (Moon Hermitage Dweller). Dated gengshen = 1860. The style used is in imitation of the ‘dry or sparse ink landscape’ associated with the Yuan painter Ni Zan (1301–1374). Qing, mid-19th cent. H 23 cm, W 18.5 cm (picture frame). Condition: Fair w. some soiling.

A very good quality Annamese dark brown rosewood and mother of pearl inlaid stationary tray for the Scholar’s Table. Rectangular form with raised feet. Decorated with mother of pearl inlays to all four sides with figures in garden setting: rocks, branches, pagodas and bridges, butterflies etc. Nguyen Dynasty Vietnam, 19th Century. Condition: fair. Old, Authentic Tibetan Pair of jha-phor, Butter Tea Bowl, Tsampa Bowl, made of Burlwood and finished with silver around the rim for the larger one and on the inside for the smaller, also at the raised foot of the cups. Diameter: 11 cm and 9 cm. High 5 cm and 4,5 cm ca. Tibet, Late 19th cent. The bowls are in very good condition and have a nice patina from use.

A fine bronze brush pot decorated with the Rakan Handaka Sonja holding the begging bowl in gilt takazogan, in a combination of high relief and incised landscape with banana leaves and flowers. Gilt top rim. Incised signature on the Kyoto Kumagai zo (made by Kumagai). H. 9,5 x D 6,5 cm. Meiji period (1868-1912) . Very good condition.
