A sometsuke o-zara decorated with an intricate Tako-karakusa, Octopus scroll, ground inset with three hexalobed shaped reserves each containing a Shishi, Buddhist lion, flanked by Peonies, botan ni shishi zu. The dish robustly modelled with an upturned slightly barbed rim, of lotus petal form. The reverse decorated with a continuous Karakusa arabesque incorporating various precious objects, takaramono, and the six character mark, kigyoku houtei no chin, a Chinese mark of commendation meaning a precious treasure. The dish measures 20.8 cm in diameter, approximately 8.25 inches. The plate is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration, apart from the usual kiln and glaze flaws to be expected of this class of porcelain. Shipping at Cost.
