A high quality Arita porcelain dish decorated with an auspicious pattern composed of a central motif made up of three shippo or cash symbols bound together by a stylised Peony leaf vine; a variant of the more usual ribbon tied cash see EW3193. The cavetto decorated with a Tako-karakusa ground and the rim with a diaper band. The reverse is meticulously painted with a band of stylised lotus pattern to the base of the footrim. A design typical of higher quality porcelain of kenjo presentation type of the Kyoho period. And a band of alternating crested waves with gobenka to the rim. A design that becomes popular in the second quarter of the eighteenth century on a wide range of wares. This would date the dish to around 1740. The base is decorated a spiral fuku mark within a double square within a single ring. There are four spur marks in a “Y” shaped pattern. The glaze has been carefully and evenly scrapped away from the foot rim. The dish is in good condition, except for a filled chip to the rim. The dish measures 18.6 cm in diameter and stands 3.2cm high at the rim. The foot-rim measures 12.4cm in diameter and the dish weighs 375 grams. FREE SHIPPING.
