This is really a fantastic fragment of a faience Isis, sitting on a lion throne, nursing her son Horus.
The whole throne, supported by two stringing lions, is well preserved. The lions are extremely fine
and you can see every detail. Dating is between Third Intermediate Period to Late Period.
I think it looks a little bit Nubian, than it is 25th Dynasty. I can not find any parallel of a
comparable faience throne, so it has to be extremely rare.
For comparable bronze lion thrones see:
LACMA, Accession Number AC1992.152.57
Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession Number 23.6.26
Egyptian Museum Berlin, Accession Number ÄM 4580
For a real wooden stool see: Musée du Louvre Paris, E 10780

Date: Egypt, Third Intermediate Period to Late Period, ca. 1069 - 332 B.C.
Material: Faience
Size: ca. 3,5 cm; c. 1.38 inches
Condition: fragment
Provenance: private French collection, prior to that Swiss (Bern) collection, formed before 1970
