Two Guinomi sake cups and a Tokkuri by Kato Yasukage enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Shino Tokkuri/Guinomi, Nezumi Shino Guinomi.  The cups are cool, one in white glaze tinged red, the other in blue-gray glaze tinged with a reddish-blue.  They are beautifully uniform in a misshapen way, allowing no favoritism to the drinkers...

Stratified color radiates about this late work by artist Miyashita Zenji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Sai-Hafu Moyo Kabin.  Like ripples left by waves on the beach or wind in the dunes, the title means Colored Wave/Wind Patterned Vase.  It is an excellent example of this artist, at a size which makes it easily collectable.

A round form covered in fissured green celadon by Kishimoto Kennin enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Seiji Chawan and endorsed inside by Zen Priest Tachibana Daiki of Daitokuji Temple, home of the Tea Ceremony.  Profound, like an empty blue sky, the form floats lightly over the dark clay of the perfectly formed kodai base.  It is signed within that base ring by Kennin.

A wide and low porcelain bowl perfect for Usu-cha by Ono Hakuko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Yuri Kinsai Chawan.  The pattern is created by applying gold foil to the surface before firing, and called in Japanese Kinsai.  Gaps in the application create designs like broken ice.

The sandy white clay, felt even through the glossy glazes, lends the bowl a heart, and the undulating rim gets it pumping...

A very desirable work with a swish of resist creating a white floral streak on the rich red and black of this contemporary Mashiko form by Living National Treasure Hamada Shoji enclosed in a box annotated by his son Shinsaku and titled Kaki-yu Nuki-e Kabin, Shoji-saku.  The form is iconic Mashiko, with a strong sense of the utilitarian, a keynote of the Mingei movement which Shoji represented.  A spectacular example of this artists work...
