Typical Boat-shaped bronze axe with oval socket, made by the Dong Son Culture of the Annam region Vietnam, c. 300-100 BC.

Enigmatic for the Dong Son culture and attractive with it's boat form and vivid patina. The Dong Son Culture evolved semi-autonomous from the Han Empire in China until the powerful Han-dynasti Nanyue expanded south around 110 BC. and incoporated the region into the realm.

The head carved in Andesite in the wonderful style of early Borobadur with serene features. Downcast eyes and full lips with the prominent nose typical for early Buddhist art of Indonesia.

A large heavy stone sculpture of Bull Nandi, Indonesia, Early pre-Majapahit style of the 9th.-11th. cent. AD.

Done by a master sculpture in the finest style for the period. A very lifely divine bull in a recumbent pose atop a double square deep base with the right frontleg with the knee bent. The head turned and the tail swept to one side and outlined adornments.

Size: 47 cm. long and 37 cm. tall. The sculpture probably weighs around 70-80 kilos or so!

Lovely large figural stele of Pavati, Eastern Java, Early Majapahit, c. 13th.-14th. cent. AD.

The figure is carved in grey-black Vulcanic rock with red iron-oxide patination.
