Rich Oribe influenced mizusashi with hakeme (hakame) and impressed design. In the firing, the glaze ran off the pot to form a dragonfly eye style drip. The drip makes the pot a bit uneven, but I could not bring myself to grind off the drip. The foot can easily be stabilized with the addition of two felt pads

This large and highly animated E-Shino mizusashi was made by internationally known and exhibited potter, Suzuki Goro. Made in Suzuki's classic "free wheeling" style, the careful use of iron under the glaze and the glaze itself has painted a Momoyama ink painting style image in a rather monumental way. Thrown quickly and thickly, the pot has areas of smooth and rough which balance the form rather well and the pot is finished with strong lugs and a large and functional knob on the lid...

Large and impressive hikidashi-kuro, black Bizen chawan by Akiya masao. Measuring 14 x 11 cm, the chawan is in perfect condition with original signed box and is quite a wonderful handful. The surface is rich with wet ash on the exterior and interior and the surface is also decorated with diagonal slashes that add to the tactile quality.

Akiya Masao was born near Tokyo and after completing college at the Toyo Institute of Art embarked on a path to become a full time Bizen potter...

Traditional style chaire which was first glazed to the shoulder and then wood fired for a haikaburi effect. This chaire is in perfect condition with lid, bag and signed box and measures 7.5 x 6.8cm. The chaire mouth is not quite perfectly round and the lid fits very tightly.

Yamada Masakazu, born in 1951 is a traditional Mino craftsman and has been president of the Mino potters Association and specializes in wood fired Shino, Oribe and haiyu pottery.
