Robust and rare mizusashi by veteran and highly important potter, Morino Taimei. Using two glazes, green enamel and silver overglaze this mizusashi is a classic example of Morino's work and a wonderful modern tea piece.

This mizusashi measures 20 x 16.5 cm and is in perfect condition with its original signed wood box and is clearly stamped on the base.

This classic Mingei hanaire is by Mashiko potter Hyuga Munetoshi, a one time student of the Hamada kiln (?). Glazed in an exceedingly rich tessha/kaki iron glaze the pot has wax resisted decoration of flowers on either side of the pot. Created for both function and decoration , this pot is a great example of modern Mingei influenced Mashiko pottery. The glaze is far more complex and rich than the photos convey and will not disappoint in person...

Pleasant crackle style chawan with Rimpa influenced design under and over the glaze. This chawan was made by veteran Kyoto native potter, Suzuki Soji who was a student of Tomimoto Kenkichi. Suzuki's chawan now days can cost 200,000 yen and more.

Robust and feudal style Ko-Iga style chawan by veteran potter, Kojima Kenji. This broad bowl has a strong, purposeful form which gentlely undulates around the pot and is seen in the roving lip and the chawan is finished with a classic foot as seen on many of Kojima's teabowls. The face and interior of the chawan have a nice deposit of ash with areas about the lip being covered in a soft, green ash with the rear of the chawan detailing both fire color, hi-iro and a nice clay flavor, tsuchi-aji...

Robust and classically medieval in origin, this Seto-Guro chawan was made by Toki Intangible Cultural property, Mizuno Takuzo. The deep black surface has a wetness to the glaze that adds to curdled surface of the chawan that gives way to the buff clay and well addressed kodai. The chawan is well animated by way of deep throwing marks made while the bowl was wet and on the wheel and then was ovalled slightly to create a pleasing form to the hand and the eye...
