Composed of delicate vertical leaf fronds, this necklace looks to be of fine gold, but is really made of gold-plated metal. The bright surface shows very little wear, due to Krementz & Company’s rolled gold-plating process used on the Newark, NJ, firm’s best lines of costume jewelry. The leaves are textured with detailed lines produced by careful engine-turned engraving. The chain is composed of tiny cylindrical pieces secured to a fine wire so that they are stabilized. There is a spike and drum closure, and the script Krementz signature appears on the back of one leaf. It dates from the 1950s. Each leaf measures a little over 1 1/4 inches long; the necklace measures 15 1/4 inches long.

This Victorian sterling silver hinged bangle bracelet has hallmarks for Birmingham, 1884, and the unidentified maker’s mark of RJD. It is richly decorated with an applied embossed band of tiny starbursts within ovals, rimmed with delicate openwork. There is some roughness at the clasp, but it is secure and the pieces of the bracelet fit together nicely with a strong click. There is a shallow area of impact on the back near the clasp that is very hard to notice, as well as some scratches that contribute to the softened patina. Interior circumference is about 6 3/4 inches, and diameter is 2 1/4 inches; the bangle width is 3/4 inch. Gross weight: 24.6 grams

These highly decorative cuff links, made by Gorham Co. of Providence, RI, feature deeply embossed scrolls enhanced with green enamel paint. While the bar on one is marked sterling, the bar on the other appears to have been silver-plated, with most of the base metal now showing. All of the discs are marked on the reverse with the Gorham sterling mark, the 1898 date mark and the number 120. They measure a little over 3/4 inch long by about 1/2 inch wide.

The fold-over clasp is marked ‘Matisse’ on the top. There are some minor edge chips in the enamel on the back. It measures about 7 inches long by 1 1/4 inches at its widest point.

Here is a copper necklace with a sophisticated look that works for a variety of occasions. Made by Renoir of California, it lies neatly around the neck like a collar of copper fringe. It is nicely designed with alternating groups of graduated flat links, and has a secure fold-over clasp that bears the Renoir mark. Copper is almost as bright as the day it was made, mostly due to Renoir’s special coating to preserve the metal’s luster. Total length is 15 inches; widest links measure 1 inch.
