Mounted with an oval banded carnelian cabochon, the pin is marked 800 to indicate silver content. It could be European, but has Asian elements to it as well. The rollover clasp is an older style but very secure, with a sturdy pin stem. The design features applied wirework and beading, and rough, scalloped edges trimmed in twisted wire. There are two larger silver half-beads, one at each side; one exhibits a small dent, as shown in Photo 5. The pin measures 1 5/8 inches across.

Rectangular panels of mother-of-pearl, vertically incised, set in 9-kt. gold frames fused to sterling silver backings. Each button measures ½ inch long by 5/16 inch wide. The chains are securely attached, and neither the chains nor other attachments show any stress or wear. The cuff links are lightweight, but are sturdily made. They bear marks for sterling and 9-kt gold (the gold marks, which read ‘9 ct,’ are substantially worn), as well as the marks for Henry Griffith & Son, Birmingham, England.

This graceful sterling silver ring is formed as a stylized snake with an impressed band starting at the head and tapering to the tail. The impressed area is nicely oxidized and decorated with contrasting circular elements, one of which serves as the snake's eye. The patina is soft and is nicely enhanced by the oxidation. The inside of the ring bears the partial marks for sterling, Mexico and its maker, the preeminent Taxco workshop of Los Ballesteros. The ring is sized to a 7 scant. Weight: 8.7 grams

The anchor buttons are undecorated silver; the hinge is in good working order and the bridge bars are secure. They are marked 835 for silver content, with a maker’s mark of a stylized fish, probably for the German firm of Fischlandschmuck. The amber buttons measure ¾ inch by 5/16 inch.

Composed of wood beads that are dyed red, wire-mounted on a pewter bar and from chain swags. The photos show the red as a fire-engine red; the beads actually are darker, more of a maroon. Photo 3 is the closest to the actual color. It is a sizable brooch, but lightweight, and secured on the back by a modified C-clasp. It is signed Aarikka Finland on the back of the pewter bar, which has been highly oxidized. The chains appear to be made of darkened brass. The pin measures 4 ¼ inches at its widest part by 4 ½ inches at the longest point. It is one of Aarikka’s more creative and dramatic designs.

A colorful studio piece molded as an abstract, modified circle and enameled in browns and blues. The back bears a secure rollover clasp on one side and a pendant bale on the other. The piece works best, however, as a pin. There are some illegible marks on the back; although the pin does not indicate silver, it does test definitively as silver, but not sterling. It measures 2 inches by 1 ¾ inches. Weight: 11.9 grams
