Coiled aluminum wire ring made without soldering, in the style of Alexander Calder, c.1950's. Has large circular design and measures 1 1/4" in diameter. The ring is cleverly designed so that the band is set towards the edge rather than the mid section. Hence it lays comfortably on the finger. Ed Wiener also used this technique(see back photo). Interesting combination of Edwardian design of sapphires with rose diamonds in a 14k white filigree gold ring setting, c.1915. Rose diamonds are not usually found during this period, but are used here in this lovely ring. The are 3 hand set dark blue sapphires (1.4 carats) and 40 small rose diamonds(approx. .70 carats). Modernist handmade 14k and amethysts pin by the very famous Danish designer, Hans Hansen(1884-1940). This wonderful architectural design is a very simple curved pin with an amethyst at either end. Early period art deco metal jewelry clip of black man's face, c.1920's. He is wearing a white painted handkerchief on his head which has the tied ends hanging down next to a brass earring. He shows the attitude of the times with "nappy" hair, large painted whites of the eyes, and a smiling painted red mouth and white teeth. Made of heavy gauge metal.
