Offered is a set of three gorgeous 18th Century Japanese porcelain bowls with molded decoration to the inner sidewalls, and underglaze blue decoration inside the base and outside on the sides. A very similar bowl with nearly the same moldings (Object 254) appears in Volume IV of the Shibata Collection of the Kyushu Ceramic Museum in Saga Prefecture, Japan. That bowl has the same mark as appears on the three bowls here, and that bowl and mark are dated to about 1740-70. I can mail pictures of the Shibata piece if needed. The three bowls offered here date to the same period of the 18th Century.

These bowls measure about 11.7 cm in diameter at the rim and 7.3 cm tall to the highest point on the barbed rim. The weight ranges from 174 grams to 178 grams. Condition is excellent overall, with no cracks, repairs or chips noted. All in all a gorgeous example of mid-18th Century Japanese porcelain!

Offered individually for $80-100, and as a group for $225.
