This bisque headed beauty is an early example of the work of the Armand Marseilles firm which became for a time the world's largest doll or parts maker. The attributes of this doll illustrate the reason for this success.

The delicate rosy cheeks and eyes make the feminine beauty come alive in this doll which has a kid leather body. Her mouth is slightly open, her eyes brown to match her long, attached hair. She does not have a removable wig.

She is fully costumed with floor length dress, petticoat, bloomers, shoes. Her legs are jointed at the hip and knee. The dress is accompanied with a matching evening bag.

The back of her head is marked Ruth 5/0. Given the absence of Germany or AM marks, I conclude that the doll is late 19th C.

The face is in excellent condition. The body is very good though there is some discoloration on the hands. The arms are attached to the shoulders with stitching rather than with bolt.
