Ceramic tokkuri - sake bottle - with flattened oval body and cup mouth. Rust color body and wonderful free potting - one can feel spiral lines on the body left by fingers of the potter. Gray Shino glaze with areas of deeper color, beautiful crackling to the glaze, wonderful sense of energy to the piece. Made by American potter Robert Fornell (resided in Japan 1988-1996) marked with his seal on the foot. Great object in Japanese taste, in excellent condition. Height 5 3/4 inches.

Contemporary netsuke of a bee sitting on a honeycomb with grubs and honey cells. Walrus tusk, honey cells are inlaid with Baltic amber. Excellent carving, great realistic depiction of the insect, wonderful patina. Signed on the bottom by the artist Sergey Chernyavskiy. Length 1.87 inches.

Unusual netsuke size okimono of a beetle, a moth and a water drop on a chrysanthemum leaf. Wonderful subject and extraordinary delicate execution - see finely captured anatomy of the insects and veining of the leaf. The leaf is fossilized mammoth ivory, insects are carved out of differently colored buffalo horn, water drop is crystal or acrylic. Signed in round amber reserve on the bottom SC for Ukrainian / Latvian carver Vjacheslav (Slava) Chernoshey. In superb condition, length 2.43 inches

Japanese glass ojime in a form of tombodama bead with white core and two birds on a long branch with leaves and flowers. Tombodama can be translated as “dragonfly ball” and the name is thought to come about because when the molten glass is applied to the core bead it resembles a dragonfly’s eye.
