Zitan wood has historically been valued in China, particularly during the Qing dynasty. Due to its slow growth and rarity, Zitan has been one of the most prized woods for millennia.
Bone and wood inlay is a traditional craft in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, in which animal bones are embedded in the surface of wooden objects for decoration. It is famous for its long history and exquisite skills, and in 2008, bone and wood inlay was listed in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list.
The necklace is consisted of a hundred bone-inlay wood beads, ten oval amber beads, and eight transparent Peking glass beads with dragon relief.
