A Qajar sherbet spoon carved from light wood, made in two parts with pierced handle joined to the boat-shaped bowl-section by a socket. A brass magic bowl of deep rounded form with everted rim and raised omphalos. Incised allover with talismanic inscriptions, the exterior with the twelve Zodiac signs in cartouches. Dated AH 1209 / AD 1794 (see picture no. 8). Condition: everted rim with a small loss, some patina. Dimension: diameter: 16.1 cm, 4.5 cm high.

A small cylindrical container made of brass with a domed cover with close fitting. With engraved decoration in horizontal bands, the widest with four medallions each containing a figure at leisure. Its function is not obvious, maybe an ink pot (davat) or a container for tobacco or spices. From an old Swiss collection. Condition: good, few tiny dents. Dimension: 7.0 cm high, diameter: 2.9 cm, weight: 56 g.

Of rectangular form with sliding lid. The top and reverse differently carved with the rose and nightingale "gul-u-bulbul" motif. The undecorated mirror is not fixed. Condition: few traces of usage, the mirror glass with some imperfections. Dimension: 19.3 cm x 12.8 cm, weight: 324 g.

A fragment of a large hanging, depicting a kneeling Persian nobleman betweeen two horsemen. Embroidered in chain stitch on a coarse weave. A Qajar papier-mache penbox with painted decoration under a lacquered varnish. Showing the rose and nightingale motif "gul-u-bulbul", a popular literary and decorative theme in Qajar Persia. Provenance: a gentleman's collection, Geneva - Switzerland. Condition: traces of usage, small losses, some wear and cracking (please look at the photos carefully, they make part of the condition report). Dimension: c. 23 cm x 4.2 cm x 3.5 cm.

A Persian nargileh water pipe cup "qalian" in conical form, made of brass or copper, maybe with gilding. Engraved and embossed decoration of flowers and calligraphy. Condition: traces of usage, rims slightly dented, some discolored areas, (please look at the photos carefully). Dimension: diameter: 8.3 cm, height: 6.2 cm.

Octagonal shaped miniature qur'an container with hinged and slightly convex lid. Two sides with a metal loop for the attachment to the arm. The lid and the sides decorated with verses from the qur'an. Condition: good. Dimension: 4.9 cm x 4.9 cm, 1.4 cm high, weight: 26 g.

A round tray cover made of glazed cotton lavishly block-printed and dyed, produced in Isfahan in the 19th century. Centrally a blossom surrounded by rows of boteh, meandering flowers, cartouches with Arabic inscriptions etc. Qalamkar textiles were especially popular in Persia, often imported from India (here called Kalamkari). A charming Sumakh flatweave Chanteh bag made of wool. With woven striped Kilim back. From an old Swiss collection. Condition: clean, few traces of usage, selvage wrapping partially lost. Dimension: c. 27.5 cm x 29.5 cm.

A cover composed of several pieces, lined with green fabric. Blue ground with brocaded boteh pattern in metal wrapped threads. Provenance: a gentleman's collection, Geneva - Switzerland. Condition: wear - mostly only the yellow silk core left. Short parts of selvages undone, one small mend, two small holes, few thin areas . Dimension: 92 cm x 125 cm.

A silk brocade in gold thread with boteh in lozenge shaped lattice. An Iranian tinned copper plate, of saucer form. Chased decoration of calligraphic cartouches. Base with maker's mark. Condition: some traces of usage, rubbing to tinning, slightly warped. Dimension: diameter 26 cm, 4.2 cm high.

A small pouch made of different Persian silk brocades "zar-baft" and egded with gold braids. Silk lining. Women's pouches in Qajar Persia were used for different purposes as storing kohl, veil, prayer stone, comb, quran etc. Please visit www.qajarwomen.org. Condition: traces of usage, slightly stained. Hand colored copper plate etching, trimmed and glued on old cardboard, beneath with an old label in French, written in ink: "Arc de triomphe a Canton en Chine". Designed by P. van Blanckaert and etched by G.G. Winckler in Augsburg Germany, in the second half of the 18th century. Depicting the view of a triumphal arch at Canton. Condition: Trimmed, mounted on cardboard, small but old fissure, lightly stained. Dimension: Etching 27,5 cm x 40,8 cm. / cardboard 35,2 cm x 48,5 cm.

Three portions of an antique linen dress, elaborately embroidered and embellished with crochet work in wool. Two arm sleeves, one undone and the chest area.
