A square composite panel made of antique embroideries from the Greek islands (Ottoman Empire). The basic fabrics are different plain cotton weaves, embroidered with silk or wool and metal wrapped threads. Traces of former mounting, maybe as a pillow cover. Condition: one hole (see photo no. 4), some slits, some missing threads, little faded. Dimension: 51 cm x 52.5 cm.

A textile panel made of different dyed silk stripes, exquisitely embroidered with motifs from Zoroastrian myths such as fishes or botehs. The backing is a coarse blue dyed cotton, framed by a black ribbon. These embroidery panels originally would have formed the knee to ankle section of one trouser leg, of a shalvar (pantaloon) from a Zoroastrian woman's wedding costume. The ground textile is a dark woolen flannel "inlaid" with pieces of colored fabric and embroidered in silk yarn in different colors. The embroideries from Rasht in Gilan Province were made by professional male embroiderers. Cotton lining, silk fringes. Dimension: diameter (without fringes): 142 cm, fringes: c. 8.5 cm long. Condition: fine, little faded, minimally stained.

A woven red silk panel brocaded in silver thread, showing roundels with the cintamani enclosed by tiger stripes motif. Bordered with a figured silk fabric, cotton lining. Condition: little wear, few tiny stains. Dimension: c. 34 cm x 90 cm.

A fragment of a large hanging, depicting a kneeling Persian nobleman betweeen two horsemen. Embroidered in chain stitch on a coarse weave. A beautiful square cover embroidered in silk threads with botehs and volutes. The ground fabric is a block printed twill weave, edged with a silk velvet border. Cotton lining. Condition: few tiny thin areas, few missing and loose threads, Little faded, lining with stains. Dimension: c. 77.5 cm x 75 cm.

Composed of different cotton fabrics, made into a rectangular shaped woman’s prayer cloth indicating qibla, the direction of prayer. The basic fabrics are geometrically worked tapestry weaves, crocheted together. All sides with fringes, backed with a plain weaves. Condition: traces of usage, few thin areas, lining little stained. A gauzy ivory white silk fabric brocaded with leaves in gold wrapped thread. Condition: fine. Dimension: 108 cm x 36 cm.

A round tray cover made of glazed cotton lavishly block-printed and dyed, produced in Isfahan in the 19th century. The basic fabric is a linen weave with black stripes. The ends are embroidered with a striped camel carrying a coffin to Mecca, in polychrome threads and decorated with fold silvered metal. A long woman's coat, made of salmon-colored silk, with woven rows of polychrome flower bouquets. Front and back made of one panel of fabric, therefore the pattern being upside-down at the back. Slitted sleeve ends with embroidery in metal threads and the cuffs lined with additional fabric. Bordered with brocade bands and cream colored cotton lining...

Two trouser cuff fragments of Persian women with different nakshe embroidery. The linen ground entirely embroidered in polychrome silks with diagonal bands of flowers. Backed and bordered with linen. Condition: faded, old mends. Dimension: 49 cm x 33.5 cm and 45 cm x 34.5 cm.

The back with padded embroidery. The inside with very soft white leather. Condition: some wear and leather with few stains and two corners unstuck. Dimension opened: 22.2 cm x 28.5 cm.

A book cover made for a Qur'an, the originating country being North African or in the Middle East. A coarse weave is embroidered with green in counted stitch and with metal wrapped thread. The inside with very soft white leather. Condition: little wear and leather with stains. Dimension opened: 16.6 cm x 23.2 cm.

Composite panel of antique Ottoman embroideries, made into a rectangular shaped woman’s prayer cloth indicating qibla, the direction of prayer. Made in the Ottoman city of Salonika or Kavala. The basic fabrics are different plain weaves, embroidered with silk and silver wrapped threads, crocheted together. Two patches with a kind of floral needle weaving. Bordered with a green ribbon and later lining. Condition: stained and flawed areas, missing threads, faded. Dimension: 159.5 cm x 98 cm.

The ground fabric was certainly made in China. The ends of the shawl are finely embroidered in multi-colored silk yarn. The embroidery is identical on both surfaces. The sides with fringes or crochet work. Condition: one hole (near embroidery) and few tiny holes, few tiny stains and loose threads. Dimension: length without fringes: approx. 225 cm, width: 45 cm.

Burgundy red velvet ground with the design of a mosque with minarets below a tughra. Padded embroidery in couched metal thread. Condition: doubtless a fragment, the basic fabric sewn together, the metal threads with patina and some missing and loose ones. Dimension: 35 cm x 33 cm.

The basic fabric is a very fine plain weave, probably cotton with some silk, embroidered with pastel colored silk yarn and metal threads. Worked identically on both surfaces. Condition: few losses of metal thread, six small holes, little patina. Dimension: 214 cm x 36.5 cm.
