A beautifully carved and gilt boxwood figure of Guan Yin / Guanyin. The goddess is holding the holy Buddhist scripture and has placed her hand between the open pages. China, Republic period, c 1920. The surface of the carving is covered with a thin layer of red that mixes with the gilt. The figure can be fixed to an oval wooden stand. Height (the stand not included) "4 ¾ / 12.3 cm. Condition: fine.

A tea bowl or maybe, rather, a wine bowl. The front with the combined crest of two families from the rural nobility, one is symbolized by a harrow, the other by a bunch of grapes. The back with the intertwined initials of the families joined together in marriage, surrounded by vines and grapes. China, mid or late 18th century. Diameter "3¼/ 8 cm, height "1¾/ 4,5 cm. Condition: a very small glaze flake to the mouth rim.

An unusually small creamer, Chinese export porcelain from the Qianlong period, c 1770. Decoration in the European taste of scattered flowers, a thin lattice border and garlands. Height "3 1/3/ 8.5 cm. Condition: a professional restoration is visible near the beak where the decoration is restored with exactly the same enamels as the original (cf. pics).

A blue and white gravy jug or creamer, Chinese export porcelain, c 1830. The hand painted decoration of pagodas in a seascape is cut off on both sides of the handle, mimicking the competitive English porcelain factories, where this was an obvious downside of the new and rational method of printing. A miniature vase, decorated in underglaze blue with garlands of grapevines. China, Yongzheng to early Qianlong, 18th century. Interestingly, the same decoration has been found on many of the blue and white plates in the cargo of Swedish East Indiaman Götheborg which went down just outside the town with that name in 1745. Height "3 ¼ / 8.3 cm. Condition: an old restoration overpaint to the mouth rim has been removed to leave just the filling (cf. pics).

A very small porcelain vessel, for one single dosis of a medicine. China, Qianlong, 18th century. The name of the medicine is written in under glaze blue to one side, to the other the name of the disease it was intended to cure. Height "1 ¼ / 3.3 cm. Condition: fine.
