An unusually small creamer, Chinese export porcelain from the Qianlong period, c 1770. Decoration in the European taste of scattered flowers, a thin lattice border and garlands. Height "3 1/3/ 8.5 cm. Condition: a professional restoration is visible near the beak where the decoration is restored with exactly the same enamels as the original (cf. pics).

Sparrow beak milk jug, Chinese export porcelain from late Kangxi or Yongzheng, early 18th century. Imari decoration: underglaze blue and overglaze red plus some gilt. The blue is clobbered - the way it is sometimes seen on the blue and white ginger jars with the classic cracked ice decoration - and the way the circular chrysanthemum flowers have been cut in halves shows Japanese influence. Height "4 ¾ / 12.2 cm. Condition: a hairline to the base of the handle.

Coffee cup, Chinese export porcelain from the Qianong period, c 1770. European style decoration of a ribbon in overglaze blue and gilt, and scattered flowers in Famille rose enamels. Gilt borders and leaf handle. Height "2 ¼ / 6 cm. Condition: rim frits to the foot rim (cf. pics).

A Chinese Export coffee cup, slightly ribbed and foliated, a rather unusual shape. Enameled decoration of flower garlands in European Rococo style. Early Qianlong period (c 1740), a give-away as for the age is a little flower in iron red and gold to each side. Height "2 ¼ / 6.2 cm. Condition: little black spots and two hairlines (cf. pics).

A Chinese export plate from the first part of the 18th century, Yongzheng or early Qianlong. Decoration in Famille rose enamels of a large peony in bloom with an orange ribbon and some other scattered flowers, all surrounded by a thin diaper border in matte turquoise. The whole plate with a light greenish tint to the glaze. Brown-glazed rim. Diameter: / 22.8 cm. Condition: a few small spots of glaze wear to the well, otherwise fine.

Large blue and white teacup of ogee shape and saucer bowl, in the Fitzhugh pattern. Chinese export porcelain from the early years of the 19th century, c 1810-20. Diameter of saucer "6 ¼ / 16 cm and of cup "4 ½ / 11 cm. Condition: the cup with two short hairlines and a nick to the mouth rim.

A small Chinese teapot, pumpkin shaped and ribbed. Decoration of garden rocks and flowers in underglaze blue, overglaze red and gilt. Late Kangxi / early 18th century. Width / 14.5 cm, height including lid "4/ 10 cm, width "5 ¾ / 14.5 cm. Condition: some glaze flakes to the lid and firing cracks to the knob (cf. pics).

Chinese mother of pearl gaming counter, around 1800, custom-made with initials EM, probably for a lady who would also have used it as a thread winder for her embroidery silk. Length "2 ½/ 6.4 cm. Condition: fine.

Chinese box padlock with key, made of brass, probably c 1900. Finely engraved with a bird and a dragon, a bridge and a cottage. Length "1 ¾ / 4.3 cm. Condition: fine.

A blue and white gravy jug or creamer, Chinese export porcelain, c 1830. The hand painted decoration of pagodas in a seascape is cut off on both sides of the handle, mimicking the competitive English porcelain factories, where this was an obvious downside of the new and rational method of printing. Width "5 ¼ / 13, height with handle "3 ½ / 9 cm. Condition: a glaze bubble under the spout (cf. last pic).

Carved amber glass snuff bottle, a stylized animal head to each side. China, late 19th century. Height "2/ 5.2 cm. Condition: minimal nicks to rim (cf. pics).

Thinly potted, pretty plate with decoration mainly in yellow, iron-red and green of flowers, birds and butterflies, c.1850. Diam: "5 ½ /14 cm. Condition: some wear to the decoration.

A Chinese seal, reddish-brown soapstone, all around with engraved little landscapes and a coiling snake on top. Chinese probably auspicious characters to one side. The name of the owner, Bettina, is carved both in Chinese and Latin lettering. Height "3 1/3/ 8.5 cm. Condition: fine.

Baluster vase with Flambé glaze in red, green and black, where the lighter parts are crackeled and the black is close to mirror black. San-Yang Kai-Tai or transmutation glazed, representing the change of seasons, from winter into spring. China, early 20th century, Republic period. The vase was purchased in Brussels in the 90's from an old Chinese couple who brought it to Europe when they left China in their youth. Height "7 ¼ / 18.5 cm. Punch bowl, a mid 19th century copy of the Chinese bowls made for the European market a hundred years earlier. The exterior dark blue and gilt with birds and vases in Famille Rose enamels in reserves, the interior with scattered flowers. Unmarked but most certainly made by Samson of Paris c 1880. Many of Samson’s Chinese Export models derive from a large collection of Chinese porcelain held by French industrialist Ernest Grandidier now to be seen in the Musée Guimet. A small Guanyin / Guan Yin, moving graciously with ribbons and a fan, her hairdo with flowers and jewels. Chinese, early Republic period or somewhat earlier, carved in greenish speckled soapstone and fixed onto a rhombic hardstone stand. Height altogether "4 ¾ / 12 cm. Condition: piece of the ribbon near the right shoulder of the goddess is missing (cf. pics).

Double gourd silk pouch with seed stitched calligraphy. China, c 1900. Height "6 ¼ / 15.5 cm. The inside with a paper label saying No 9 Peking China. Condition: to one side some residue from another label.

Money purse with three compartments, Chinese, c 1900. Lids and visible parts embroidered with flowers in brick stitch. The inside of one lid with a paper label saying No 7 Peking China. Width "4 ¾ / 12 cm. Condition: a few stitch losses to one side.
