A Very Rare Korean Imperial Embroidered Document/Letter Container/Symbols of 10 longevity
(십장생문-長生文-書札桶)-19th C.:
Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century.
This embroidered tubular long container/box for a mail or document carrier among the princesses in imperial court, embroidered on a bright red silk with five claw dragons, pine, crane, peony, chrysanthemum? bamboo, rock, deer, turtle, fungus, clouds and water (십장생문) on the main tube and the cap embroidered with a single rose of Sharon (무궁화). It’s in very good condition, it measures 35.5 cm long x 8.2 cm d.
