A lovely ink and watercolor drawing, 10" by 13" (22" by 28" framed), featuring two elegantly dressed early 20th century women strolling in a park-like setting, as a gentleman on horseback passes by headed in the other direction. The work is signed at lower left by LUDOVIC-RODO PISSARRO (1878-1952), one of four sons of famous French impressionist artist Camille Pissarro. "Rodo" as he was often called throughout his life, was born in Paris and early on received training from his father. By 1894 he was creating wood engravings and exploring a number of media. A few years later he was in Montmartre and its budding artistic scene, his older brother Georges introducing him to such figures as Van Dongen, Vlaminck, and Raoul Dufy. Rodo exhibited in the 1905 Fauve show. He left for England at the start of World War I, returning after its end. The artist in 1939 published the catalog raisonne of the paintings of his father, a reference work still considered the authority on the subject.
