Offered is a signed and dated Craig Zweifel studio glass perfume bottle with an iridescent feather design and clear crystal stopper. The bottle is 2 ½ " tall by 2 3/8 "wide and in excellent condition with no scratches, chips, scuffs, or repairs noted. Craig Zweifel (1944-2020) studied under Dr. Robert Fritz at San Jose State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969. He built his first studio in Jackson, WY, in the late 1960s. After receiving a master's degree in Glass Design from UCLA in 1974, he returned to the Rockies, where he lived and worked in his studio near Ketchum, Idaho, for 30 years before moving to Southern Oregon in 2004. Zweifel's glass is highly regarded for its unique surface treatment. It is created by fusing silver to molten glass at 2100 degrees with overlays of glass that crystallize, covering each piece with an array of hues. Signed and dated, each piece is created individually, resulting in subtle variations in color, shape, and surface texture. The unique aspects of the process make every piece one of a kind. He exhibited his work in galleries, art shows, and museums across the U.S. and abroad, including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Smithsonian.
