Offered is a James Wilbat studio glass perfume bottle with a whimsical elongated postmodern design and clear glass stopper. The bottle is 9“ (W) " x 4 ½ "(T) x 2” (D) wide and weighs 2 pounds 4 ounces. It is in excellent condition with no scratches, chips, scuffs, or repairs noted, and signed and dated on the bottom of one side as shown. James Wilbat (Born 1953) creates functional and sculptural glass that unites ancient glassblowing techniques, fun funky postmodern design, and whimsical color. Wilbat studied ceramics at Illinois State University, where he was introduced to glassblowing during his senior year and received a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts in 1977. Wilbat dedicated himself to learning the challenging and unusual medium of blown glass. To master this new craft, he studied at the University of Kansas, earning a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Design in 1980. Since graduating, his style has evolved, drawing upon his background in ceramics. He is an award-winning glass artist based in Illinois, represented by galleries throughout the US, and a peer juror for many prestigious art shows.
