Offered is an early vintage signed Elaine Hyde iridescent studio perfume bottle with metallic blue-green threading and a clear teardrop stopper. Iridized with an acid solution to create a gold opalescent sheen, this ethereal bottle is 4 ¼ "tall, including the stopper, and 2 ½ "wide. It is in excellent condition, with no scratches, chips, scuffs, or repairs noted and signed and dated 1989 on the bottom, as shown. Elaine Hyde is an internationally known glass artist. She began her career in 1969 at The Brooks Institute of Fine Arts in California. After graduating with a BFA in 1972, she worked and trained at the Pilchuck Glass Center under the direction of Dale Chihuly. At the time, the now-famous school was in its second year of operation. In 1974 she opened her beachside studio in Santa Barbara. One of the few women working in the male-dominated field of blown glass, she has attained a reputation for her exquisite perfume bottles and signature silver luster glassware. Hyde's hand-sculpted glass pieces masterfully fuse beauty and utility. Her current focus is to combine blown glass vessels with precious metals and gemstones.
