Arthur J. T. Briscoe, British, 1873-1943, "Furling the Foresail". This etching by Arthur Briscoe measures 7 7/8 x 11 7/8 inches. Ink signed and numbered on cream laid paper, 1924. Cat: Hurst-85. Framed. Briscoe is known as one of the finest marine etcher of the 20th. century. He owned his own three ton cutter which he used to sail around the Essex coast. Yasuo Kuniyoshi 1893-1953 Japanese /American This is an original lithograph by Japanese American artist Yasuo Kuniyoshi. It is titled The Cyclist. It was created and printed in 1939 and originally sold through Associated American Artists in New York. The image measures 12 1/2X8 3/4 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper. This lithograph is clearly signed in pencil lower right by the artist. One of his images from his circus series.

Mary Stevenson Cassatt 1844-1926 American This is an original drypoint etching by American artist Mary Cassatt. The title is Denise holding her Child, created in 1905, this image is the first state of two, printed on an Ivory laid type sheet. The image measures 8X5 3/4 inches. Unsigned as issued. James Abbott McNeill Whistler 1834-1903 American This is a fine early printing of the well known etching, Bibi Valentin by American artist James M Whistler. This etching created in 1859 is impression II/II before the plate was damaged. It came to us with the original Kappel label on the back. A fine rich impression printed on a thin laid japan type paper. Signed and dated within the plate. Glascow 34.

Manuel Robbe French This is a fine original color aquatint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe. The title of this work is: La Coquette. It was created and printed circa 1905. It is hand signed with pen and ink in the lower right border. Printed on a medium weight laid type paper. The image measures 14 1/8X10 3/16 inches. This image appears in the Merrill Chase catalog as image number 22. A fine example of his "belle epoque" style of expression.In a fine gilt foster brothers frame.

19th Century American School 1800-1899 American Artists This is an original oil on canvas painting of an Ox and Cart coming down the road. The painting has 3 intials lower right, they seem to read: "W. ?. S." Weve been unable to make out who the artist was. We feel the painting is from the late 1890's and is most likely American in origin. The painting was expertly done. The canvas laid on board measures 19X13 inches and is in a 19th century gilt frame.

This color aquatint etching by the French Expressionist Georges Rouault measures 12 1/8 x 8 3/8 inches, plate signed, from the "Circus of the Shooting Stars" series, a group of eight color aquatints created in 1930, on Rives BFK laid type paper, initialed and dated in the plate, lower right, edition of 270, cat: Wofsy-212.

Hand signed in pencil lower right also with the windmill blindstamp and copyright information in the upper left corner. Very rich color remains, nice condition..This image appears in the Holland catalog as number 276.

This 1862 oil on canvas by the British artist Alfred Vickers measures 11 3/4 x 15 3/4 inches, signed and dated l.l., housed in original frame, partial European label on back. Born in London, Vickers was a self-taught landscape painter, who exhibited at the British Institute and the Royal Academy.

The image is editioned lower left as 12/20. A rare image. The drypoint measures 15X12 inches, printed on a medium weight, watermarked, laid type paper. very fine condition, a rich impression showing a velvet burr of ink throughout the figure. This drypoint is clearly signed in pencil by the artist lower right border.

Benton Murdoch Spruance, American, 1904-1967, "Set Pieces: Vanity of Trust," lithograph, image size 13 x 18 1/2 inches, 1949, edition of 30, pencil signed, titled and editioned. Spruance studied in Paris after winning the coveted Cresson Scholarship in 1928 while attending college at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. He studied with Edmond and Jaques Desjobert in Paris before returning to the US and continuing his nearly forty year career as a printmaker.

Augustus John 1878-1961 Welsh This is a very scarce etching by Welsh artist Augustus John. The subject is a Portrait of Benjamin Evans, Benjamin Evans is thought to have been etched during Augustus John’s stay in Liverpool, where he taught at the University from 1901-1902.
