Attributions are a difficult issue in the world of vintage Mexican silver jewelry - they are almost never accepted. If a piece is not signed, it’s just not signed! In this case, however, I will put my years of experience behind my suggestion that the necklace I am presenting here is the work of Reveriano Castillo. When I acquired it, it had no clasp and since the specific Reveri design is usually marked exactly there, the connection to its maker was lost. I had my jeweler craft a fold-over clasp similar to what the necklace would have originally come with and based on the quality of materials, the level of craftsmanship and the weight of the piece, I am quite convinced that my attribution has merit. I will end by saying that this is a gorgeous, substantial, unusually long beauty that can be easily enjoyed alone or combined with your favorite chain necklaces. At 22” wearable length the necklace is 1/2" wide and weighs 71.3 grams. It is missing all hallmarks (please, see description for attribution) yet has been tested and is guaranteed to be sterling silver. It dates in the 1950s-60s and is in very good vintage condition with generous length and weight, a silky patina, with a couple of very light, almost indiscernible impressions in the spheres, and no other damage or unsightly repairs - except, of course, for the replaced fold over clasp (see description).
