Very finely cast sculpture of a horse head and neck in cast iron, mounted on heavy black marble plinth, early to mid 20th Century, unsigned.
Measures 14" high, 8 3/4" wide on the black marble base that is 6" square.
Well sculpted head and neck of a horse, arched neck with the head sightly turned to the left, mane loose and flowing, mounted to black pedestal base with two iron rods. The two rods attach to the base of the figure, and there is an opening showing that the figure is hollow in the neck area.
The surface is a satiny black, with areas that are more matte, and there are spots of rust visible, primarily in the mane.
Condition is good, shows bits of rust describe above and other minor surface abrasions or spots. The black pedestal base has two white lines on one corner, and they are just part of the marble, it is not a crack. Bottom of base shows worn black felt. Sold as is
A really fine equine sculpture, good size, life like and is lovely from all sides.
