Gorgeous silver plate gravy boat by Christofle of France, fashioned after the Empire Period of Napoleon, named Malmaison after his home in France, large size with attached underplate, mid 20th century.
Measures 9" x 5 3/4" x 6" high.
The hallmark indicates that the piece was made between 1935 and 1983, and has the Coll Gallia impressed mark as well.
Like all Christofle wares, the details are very refined, the forms are beautiful and the quality is superb. The details on the eagle are finely cast, and the underplate has a lovely band of acanthus leaves around the edge.
Beautiful Condition, very slight indication of usage, very minor abrasions to surface, no scratches or loss of silver.
The design is still in production, and currently is priced at $2350.
