Designed by Christian Fjerdingstad who worked for Christofle of France from 1924-1939, of silver plate, depicting a swan, the head formed from the ladle, the bowl as the bird's body, on pedestal foot, signed on base and on ladle.
Measures 2 3/4" high, and 10 1/2" from beak to tail when ladle is resting in bowl. The ladle alone measures 8" and the bowl is 7 7/8" x 3 7/8".
The ladle is marked under the bird's head with Gallia and the O C mark, while the bowl is stamped on the side of the pedestal base, Gallia France (O C mark in cartouche) and Prod Christofle. This mark was utilized between 1935 and 1975.
As the item is vintage, it shows signs of usage, slight abrasions to surface, a bit of tarnish, and very minor nicks, but no deep scratches or dents, or loss of silver plate, and is sold as is.
Very lovely form with nice touches on face of swan, some outlining on the bird's tail, and scalloped design on the foot.
Like all Christofle products, it is heavy weight with fine details and substantial silver plate over base metal.
