A truly marvelous silver plate round box on enameled stand, in the form of a nesting dove, France hallmark, classic Art Deco form with the often depicted dove.
Measures 8" wide, 6 1/4" high, and 6" deep.
No marks other than the stamped France mark, artist unknown, but is certainly designed with a fine artistic eye.
The bird has ruffled feathers around the neck, its feet grasping onto the base, with a short tail feather with step design. Signed France on bottom of tail.
Base is enameled with red and black paint in triangular pattern, visible fastening nut on bottom.
Condition shows wear to silver plate (curved areas around the neck feathers where brass is visible), and the top has some dents and is slightly out of round, but does fit onto base. Tarnish in some sections, base appears in good condition, colors are all intact. Wear to bottom of base, and with abrasions and wear to enamel surface of base. Antique item, shows wear and slight dents, tarnish, is sold as is.
This is a remarkable item, have not been able to discover the designer, but it is clearly a fine example of French Art Deco.
