Early & rare this vintage sterling silver, turquoise and coral bracelet was designed circa 1930-48 by Matilde Poulat. The dove (palomas)at the center is raised so it appears to be inflight. Poulat signed her designs Matl, a variation on the Aztec word for water. The center panel is 1 1/2" across x 1 1/4" high. Length is 7 1/4". Each link measures 1" high. Hallmarked Matl & Matl 0.925. Beautiful, natural patina that only comes with age. All stones are original. One of the small turquoise stones has a hairline noticed only on close inspection. This design is pictured on page 220 of MEXICAN SILVER by Penny Morrill & Carole Berk. Matl designs are included in the permanent 20th century Mexican silver collections at LACMA & MFA Boston among others.

This buoyant pair of large brooches were constructed & signed c.1930's by Mexico City artist Frederick Davis(1880-1961). Each measures 3 1/4" long. The design is pictured on p. 80 of SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Penny Morrill. Both pins are in beautiful condition. Pin backs and safety locks are in excellent working order. This playful pair of bracelets were designed and handwrought during Hubert Harmon's short time in Taxco, Mexico in the 1940's. Each bracelet measures 7" long and 3/4" wide. The pair weighs 32 grams. Each fish is finely detailed and measures 1 1/2" long. The amethyst cabs are bezel set but not backed allowing light to sparkle though as they move on the wrist. Beautiful condition. Clasps are tight and secure. Both bracelets are hallmarked Sterling, HUBERT HARMON, Made in Mexico.

Although the detailed design is similar, each of these Spratling candlesticks were handwrought a few years apart. Each carries specific Spratling hallmarks coinciding with their construction dates. The earlier example is 2 1/8" high. The later is 2 1/4" high. Each measures 2 1/4" across at the base. The pair weigh 155 grams. Both are in beautiful condition. Magnificent 5 inch tall sterling silver salt & pepper shakers or casters designed and signed by American and Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The pair weigh 242 grams or 8 1/2oz. Each is accented with applied silver bands along with a ball and bead atop the dome shape. Each hallmarked on the underside. This design is one of Spratling's last coming from the mid 1960's. Beautiful condition with no dents or dings. Cork bottom stoppers in fine working order. The set is pictured on Phyllis Goddard's extensive website spratlingsilver.com. Spratling designs are featured in the 20th Century Mexican Silver collection in the Latin American Wing of Los Angeles County Museum of Art - LACMA. Fantastic and rare sterling silver and turquoise cuff bracelet designed and signed in the 1950's by Hopi native american artist Preston Monongye(1927-87). 1 1/2 inches wide. The inside of the cuff measures 5 1/2" from end to end. The gap opening is 1 1/2" for a total wearable length of 6 3/4 to 7 inches. This sterling silver tufa cast bracelet weighs 114 grams or 4.0 oz. Fully hallmarked. The design features 4 rectangular turquoise stones. There is a pinhead size hole on one end of the cuff which appears to be a part of the original design. The bracelet is in exquisite condition. Price on request includes insured shipping.

This sterling silver & blue Nevada turquoise belt buckle was designed & signed circa 1950's by Native American Hopi designer Preston Monongye (1927-87). Buckle measures 3" X 2" & weighs 74 grams, 2.6 oz. The large Burnham turquoise nugget measures 1 1/2" X 1" and is in perfect condition. Monongye's 1950 hallmark is impressed on the reverse. Buckle swivel and hook work smoothly and securely. The tufa cast silver has a gorgeous vintage patina. The buckle will take up to a 1 1/2" wide strap. The contemporary hand tooled leather strap pictured is included. This strap is 1 3/8" wide & is size 34 but measures 38" long. Further information on Monogye and his hallmarks can be seen on p. 231 in Bille Hougart's LITTLE BOOK OF MARKS ON SOUTHWESTERN SILVER. Preston Monongye designs are included in the collections of the Smithsonian Institute museum, the Heard Museum, and the Denver Art Museum among several others.

Spratling gold designs rarely appear on the market. Here he uses hand-carved spondylus shell, 18K gold beads & coral shell to eye-catching effect. Each earring measures 1 1/2" high x 1 1/4" across. Both are in beautiful, original condition. Interestingly, his design embeds 2 extra gold beads into the shell of only one earring. A Spratling necklace of spondylus & 18K gold is pictured on p.58 of WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE. On pgs. 56-57 the books author, Penny Morrill discusses in detail Spratling's gold designs and the period surrounding them. LACMA & MFA Boston have Spratling's gold designs in their permanent museum collections.
