Deco in design this rarely seen or available 4 3/4 inches long sterling silver and turquoise pin in the form of an arrow or hummingbird was designed and signed (c.1950) by American and Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling(1900-67). Silver frame inlaid with a combination of stones in a mosaic form. This design was featured in the museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE and is pictured in the companion catalog by Penny Morrill on p.40. Also pictured on spratlingsilver.com, Spratling Silver: A Field Guide by Phyllis Goddard. The original drawing for this design is part of the folio by Spratling entitled FUNDACION CULTURAL TELEVISA.
