Description:
A black-glazed Jianyang tea cup was in rarely-seen silver-spots effects in the glaze.
The tea bowl was in oval shape with inverted mouth rim.
It was applied on the surface with dark brown, appearing black glaze on the surface.
The dense slip stopped evenly above the foot ring.
Slightly iridescent and brownish, the silver streaks embellished the glaze with metal-sheen-feel reflection.
It was a characteristic skill in that periods for Jianyang wares. Some northern kilns copied and used them in Cizhou wares.
The unique effects were caused during firing by the forming of specific oxides of iron and under cooling, the developing of crystals.
Not obviously, some old crackles were yielded along the glaze rim nearing to the body clay.
Scars of usage were observed on the surface.
The body clay was revealed in abrasive and old feel.
