Original oil painting on canvas by well known artist Constantin Kluge (Latvia-France, 1912-2003), circa 1950, depicting the Conciergerie and the flower market with a view of the Seine and the Paris skyline. In excellent original condition and with original gallery frame. 21 1/2" by 25 1/2" painting alone, roughly 30" by 35" framed. Signed L.L. Provenance: Roberts Gallery in Toronto (label still attached to the stretcher). This painting was sold by the Roberts Gallery after their move to Yonge Street in 1948 but before their focus shift in the early fifties from European art to Canadian art. Constantin Kluge is an important artist with works in the collections of the Musee d'Orsay, and the Musee d'Art Moderne in Paris.
