Striking large 17th Century Ayutthaya Thai bronze Buddha with hands in the "calming of the seas" mudra. Wearing a diaphanous cloak, bejeweled, serene facial expression including half closed eyes - demonstrating the divine, arched eyebrows, aquiline nose, elongated earlobes with characteristic ear rings, smiling lips and high fitted crown. The oval back piece of the crown covers the head right down to the neck, with conical pinnacle in the center covering the ushnisha, surrounded by three small cones. Beautiful dark brown patina. Circa 1600s. Dimensions: h. 26" X w. 6" X d. 4" (with stand).
