A very nicely painted Pratt Ware cottage decorated with a blue tiled roof, children at the windows with an oversize female standing beside it. On one end of the cottage is a woman with a cornucopia (?) and on the other a flowering tree. At the back in the roof is a slot for large pennies. The colors are well applied. Very nice dark blue Staffordshire transferware plate in the “Bear” pattern from the “Quadruped” series by Hall. An exceptionally attractive transferware bowl in the Milanese Pavilion pattern having fruit and floral images around the rim while two elegantly attired ladies converse on the pavilion. The back stamp bears the J H & Co mark of Joshua Heath & Co and dates to c. 1840 While the bowl is visually magnificent, it has a 2 3/4" hairline crack for which we have drastically reduced the price and for which we would consider reasonable offers. As mentioned for other similar items on the site, this type ware is often mistakenly referred to as Leeds and featheredge. In reality, many factories other than Leeds made items of this nature, and the type edge here is more properly called a molded edge. This particular plate was made by Riley, and is indicated as such with an impressed mark on the back. Being able to identify the maker does increase the value to some extent...

A rare pair of Pearlware pottery figures depicting Venus and Neptune made in Staffordshire during either the late 18th or very early 19th Century. A similar pair of figures are illustrated in "The price Guide to 18th Century English Pottery" by Sally Mount, published by the Antique Collectors' Club (1972). Condition: there are some losses to the enamel colours; no cracks, no repairs and no restoration. 23.5cm (9.25 inches) high.

A transfer printed, hand colored and gilt large mug with Japanese inspired patterns on two sides, an elaborate decoration on the inside rim and a brown edge at the top. Blue printed mark on the bottom. The body is hand thrown, but the handle is molded. Circa 1820. 4 5/8 (12 cm) tall 5 1/8 (13 cm) diameter body, with handle 7 inches (18 cm) diameter.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs...

A large tyg with hand painted apples and leaves with green dental banding and green dashes on the three handles. The tyg, or loving cup, is a popular form for Wemyss. Marked with impressed “WEMYSS WARE” in an arch over “R.H.&S.” 7 ½ inches tall, 87/8 inch diameter at base. Handles are about 2 ¼ inches out from the body.

Condition. No chips. There are two hairline cracks extending from the rim part of the way down the body. One handle broken off and restuck...

A Staffordshire punch bowl decorated with both freehand painting and the transfer of the Chinese ladies and part of the fence in the center of the bowl. The border and the four sprays that decorate the outside of the bowl are all hand painted, as is the pink lustre mountain behind the ladies. The decoration is bright and cheerful. 9 ½ inches diameter, 4 ½ inches tall.

A wonderful example of this well-known and highly collected historical Staffordshire scene. This plate is 6 3/4" in diameter, with the impressed Clews mark on the reverse. The condition is superb, with deep color, high clarity, sparkling glaze, and no chips, cracks, scratches, or restoration. It is as fine an example as one could hope for.

A 'mirror' pair of antique 19th Century pottery greyhounds (each holding a hare) made in Staffordshire circa 1860 - 1870. Condition: excellent. 19cm (7.5 inches) high; 20cm (8 inches) long.

A pair of Ironstone plates with Chinese style decoration of a willow tree, a Chinese fence and flowers. With a lobed edge they have an elaborate border between the rim and the center of the plate. The blue is underglaze decoration while the colors and gilding were applied after the glaze. The underside with the Royal Warrant, “STONE CHINA/No. 7.” 8 ¼ inch (21 cm) diameter.

Condition: Neither have chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. One has some gilding wear and slight scratching...

A fine example from the Quadrupeds Series, manufactured, primarily for the American market, by John Hall between 1802 and 1832. This particular piece depicts the pronghorn antelope, with a beaver, otter, coyote, and raccoon in the cartouches at the edge of the plate. Marked on the reverse a printed "Hall Quadrupeds".

The plate is 8" in diameter and is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or restoration, and having the desirable deep blue ripple glaze.
