Rare Staffordshire child’s mug, creamware with green transfer decoration of sign language alphabet. Early 1800’s (small hole in bottom).

A truly stunning conical creamware mug, in pristine condition, with an applied polychrome figure of a man passed out on a keg of beer; 4" tall.

A Majolica Monk Character Pitcher; by Thomas Forester Son & Co. (Stoke on Trent, England). Circa 1885. Dimensions 8" high x 7" wide. In excellent condition.

Copper lustre cream or milk jug / pitcher, both sides transfer printed and enameled with Hope sitting on the seashore by an anchor, pointing towards the horizon where a ship is seen sailing away. Sunderland, England c 1830, unmarked. Height "3 ¼ / 8.5 cm. Condition: beak with a hairline (cf. pic). A larger Sunderland jug with Charity is presented in another GC offer (cf. last pic).

A tea cup, coffee cup, and saucer in Chamberlains Worcester pattern #153, gorgeously painted with roses and elaborate gilding. The bottom, of the saucer has an unusual gilded "P." mark.

The saucer has a 5 1/2" diameter, one cup is 2 1/2" tall with a rim diameter of 2 3/4" and a foot diameter of 2". The second cup is 2 5/8" tall with a rim diameter of 3 3/8" and a foot diameter of 2 1/4". Condition is excellent with no repairs or cracks. Some very minor tiny gilt losses...

A shaped rectangular dark blue ground dish with extensive gilding. Birds on the four edges and moths in the corners are painted in conjunction with the gilding. Though unmarked it is typical of Mason’s of the period around 1825. 9 ½ inches (24 cm) length, 8 inches (20 cm), 13/4 inches (4.5 cm) tall.

Condition: No chips cracks hairlines or repairs...

A delightful and very rare Staffordshire ironstone puzzle jug by Elsmore & Forster. The sides are decorated with colorful scenes of a cockfight below the lip, while the sides feature large images of the famed circus clown “Cashmore”. The foot, rim and handle are highlighted with red stripes. The interior has a hidden siphon system that causes the contents to spill when the jug is tipped, unless the pourer covers the small air hole on the inside of the handle...

A large tyg with hand painted apples and leaves with green dental banding and green dashes on the three handles. The tyg, or loving cup, is a popular form for Wemyss. Marked with impressed “WEMYSS WARE” in an arch over “R.H.&S.” 7 ½ inches tall, 87/8 inch diameter at base. Handles are about 2 ¼ inches out from the body.

Condition. No chips. There are two hairline cracks extending from the rim part of the way down the body. One handle broken off and restuck...

Majolica wares were all about representing nature, and this gurgle fish pitcher is no exception. These fish pitchers came in a number of variations, most of which dealt with color schemes and minor design differences. This pitcher, we believe, represents the cream of the crop in a number of respects, the first of which is the gorgeou color, the primary one being the rich nearly forest green glaze which scales to mint green. The belly is white while the tale and bib are brown...

A pair of creamware pierced plates, thinly potted and with ribbed recess and hand pierced border. Possibly from the factory of James & Charles Whitehead. In the pattern book published 1798 by the Whitehead brothers, two versions of this pattern are depicted side by side: one with a beaded edge, the other a ”plain” version like these two. A Royal Doulton Chiné stoneware jug or pitcher with pewter lid, c 1890, partly gilt and enamelled in turquoise, blue and white. The Chiné pattern, where a textile – lace - was pressed into the clay to create the desired effect, was invented by Slater, director of Doulton from 1887 to 1936. Marks: Royal Doulton, Slater’s Patent and RH for designer Rosina Harris. Height 8"/20 cm. Condition: restoration to tip of spout.

A very rare set of (probably) English 9-7/8" plates in a variant of the original Blue Willow pattern. We haven't been able to accurately identify this pattern with its distinctive border butterflies in our books, however they are definitely Georgian. The porcelain is the expected light gray and the decoration is slightly blurred and each plate has the expected frit and minor variations from the manufacture of these items...

A wonderful example of this well-known and highly collected historical Staffordshire scene. This plate is 6 3/4" in diameter, with the impressed Clews mark on the reverse. The condition is superb, with deep color, high clarity, sparkling glaze, and no chips, cracks, scratches, or restoration. It is as fine an example as one could hope for.

English Transferware Pink deep Plate, Ca. 1850, 8 1/4" diameter, 1" high, marked "Woodland" in the double oveal shape circle, mpressed mark beside, rest of the markings are unable to identify, three(3) cows in front of tall trees with Grape Vine Rim design, it is a beautiful pleasant scenerey. Crazing on the glaze, the condition is good.

A signed Christopher Dresser Linthorpe pottery plate circa 1880...

These wonderful painted (some outlining is printed) plaques were done in the Staffordshire area of England in the late 18th century. They are 6 1/2" long and 4 1/2" wide. Each depicts a classical head in profile. It is uncommon to find a pair, especially in such wonderful condition. There are no chips, cracks or repairs of any kind, and the painting is vibrant and unscratched.

A Staffordshire blue and white waste bowl or slop bowl, transfer printed, early 19th century. The outside with a textile pattern and reserves with a bird. The inside with a stylized border of leaves and flowers and a similar bird in the centre. Diameter "4½/ 11,5 cm, height "2¾/ 7 cm. Condition: fine.
