A superb Derby porcelain coffee can displaying a wrecked ship and rescue efforts. An 18th century faience desk set or inkwell for a lady, decoration of flower sprigs, mainly Forget me nots. French, possibly Rouen around 1780, Width "6 ¼ / 15.8 cm and height " / 5.7 cm. The base with four little feet and mark W in black, maybe for William Sturgeon who owned one of the Rouen factories from 1776. This porcelain coffee cup and saucer was produced in England by Worcester around 1790. The set is unmarked but the pattern is unmistakably from the Chamberlain Period.
