A large oval-shaped Islamic box made of solid sterling silver, which was crafted by hand in the 19th - 20th century in Egypt, which was then part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire. The box is exquisitely designed in the Traditional Ottoman Turkish style, featuring floral decorated panels that are finely chiseled in repoussé. The sides of the box are rounded and come with two handles, while the hinged lid tapers to a bulbous gadrooned top and has a peacock finial perched on it.

Box interior cedar lined. Cover interior gilt-washed. Underside leather lined. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 19346 (first produced in 1917), and director’s letter m. Very good condition.
