Large Edwardian Art Nouveau sterling silver basket. Made by Meriden Britannia (part of International) in Connecticut, ca 1910. Wide and shaped mouth and cylindrical body flowing into round foot. Hinged c-scroll handle. Pierced and engraved ornament, including flowers, leaves, and garlands. Reeding. Armorial frames on front and back engraved with interlaced script monogram. Fully marked including maker’s stamp and no. 920. Very good condition.

This brush was made by the well-known Gorham Manufacturing Company. The design looks like the top of an antique steamer chest, with a Steampunk-like strapping-and-stud motif. The top is monogrammed with a fancy "R". It has the Gorham marks, as well as “1857 C”, “Sterling,” and the scissors mark for 1907. It measures 6” x 1-3/4" across the top, and is in very good condition. Photo note: the bristles are an ivory color, but don’t show up that way in the photos...

Both have whiplash-scrolled rim and applied figures—an eclectic frieze that includes dog-petting hobos, stickball playing boys, tool-bearing workmen, and pipe-smoking grannies. A set of eight sterling silver fruit spoons in Gorham’s elegant 1910 “Buckingham” pattern. The handle is bordered by a series of intertwined scrolls before terminating in an acanthus leaf motif. The backs of the handles have decoration mirroring the fronts. The pattern is extremely similar to “Chantilly” and could easily be used with a Chantilly service. The backs are marked with Gorham’s early 20th century hallmarks.

It is silver plated on copper and it has the maker's mark for Charles Howard Collins of Birmingham, England (founded c1895). This item is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than two small areas on the inside edge at the gallery showing copper (the largest is 1/4" long)...
