Very rare and large French Silver plated Baroque Tripod Candelabrum. Relief cast with detailed shell designs, scrolling and 3 attached gilt holy figures. Elaborate as the Baroque style is and a rare specimen ! Condition good, silver plate somewhat worn off due to age and use, good weight. Hand carved Baroque polychrome wooden cupid angel, typical chubby features of the period. Original black and red patina with gilding. A superb 19th century Imperial Russian wooden Easter egg with polychrome decoration of Christ arising from the tomb flanked by a pair of angels. The scene is beautifully colored and shows dynamic movement. The reverse of the egg bears the gilt letters “XB” for “Christ is Risen.” The egg is completed with its original blue silk ribbon, appropriately worn with age...

A lovingly carved "pitch pine" Madonna by self taught Sister Josephine - one of Saint Francis Cabrini's first orphans who, according to the accompanying letter, was "close to and loved by Mother Cabrini". Mother Cabrini was the first American citizen to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church and is the Patron Saint of Immigrants. Sister Josephine was born 1n 1877 - the same year that Mother Cabrini took her religious vows - she died, aged 101, in New York. Condition - very good...
