This set of 6 porcelain plates was produced in Germany by the Carl Thieme Dresden Factory in the 1890s. The plates measure 8 1/4 inches in diameter. They have a reticulated border measuring about 1 1/4 inches with tiny blue and gold raised rosettes. Vividly colored floral sprays and a ring of flowers decorated the centers of each plate. Lovely early Victorian angel skin coral ring with 10 carved florets and one large carved coral flower at the center, set in a pleasing symmetrical pattern. This ring has a 9K gold band while the coral florets are set in a metal bed. The Victorians loved angel skin coral, which is a red-orange or light pink colored coral, and they especially loved coral cut into cameos, flowers, or fruit. This ring has a rather large head and is therefore best worn alone. This ring is a US size 7.75.

This glass vase was produced in Kamenicky Senov, Bohemia by Josef Ahne in the late 19th century. The glass studio was in production from 1830 until 1909. This is one of the earlier pieces. Antique, Byzantine, 16th/17th-century horn cross pendant, pressed in relief, with rounded finials and a suspension loop.

A macabre bronze figural cigar cutter in the form of a guillotine. The perfectly detailed guillotine includes a movable “bascule” and “lunette”. On the full-size models, these were the portions to which the victim was strapped and tilted into the machine and the part with a hole that surrounded the neck to hold the head still. This is a rare Victorian sterling diner’s napkin hook with a patent date of 1879. A real conversation starter! Diner’s napkin hooks have been in existence since the 17th century, but were all the rage during the Victorian era. To keep from spilling food on their finery, gentlemen simply attached their napkin to the clip on one end and then put the small hook over the top of their collars. Condition: excellent. Heavy sterling silver serving spoon in Gorham’s wonderful 1888 “Versailles” pattern. This was a multi-motif pattern, meaning that each type of flatware in a service had a different handle design. This serving spoon shows a farmer in Classical dress carrying sheaves of wheat—quite a curious motif compared to the ornate scrolls and shell motifs that make us the rest of the design. Rich Green majolica plate by Wardle of England with leaf and grape pattern. Note the intentional crackling of the glaze in the large leaf. In excellent antique condition with some expected wear to the higher parts of the design and the edges. There is an old chip on the back (see last photo). The glaze is good throughout, any weird variations you might think you see are cause by my lighting. Plate measures 9 inches across. Dates 1880.

A superb early vault or bankboks key in exceptional condition, still with the original blueing of the steel, late 17th. century.

Though relatively short the key is very substantial in hand and finely made, perhaps by a gunmaker. The stem is short and fluted, hollow made and the bit very sturdy with cut slots. Such a stem was a new invention for security keys in the period, making it much, much harder to copy.
