SOLD Porcelain underglaze blue painted dinner plate decorated in a direct steal from Worcester with the “pine cone” pattern. The form of the plate is slightly different than the Worcester form but design and border are a close copy. Worcester is done with a transfer prints whereas this plate is hand painted and the porcelain is hard paste as opposed to soft paste. Since the pattern being copied is from around 1780 this plate is probably circa 1790...

Nicely decorated with hand painted floral bouquets and sprigs on a hard paste porcelain a trembleuse cup, cover and saucer. The rims are dental gilt as are the fruit and leaves knop and two handles. No marks but French in form and decoration from around 1780. Saucer is 6 ¼ inches (15.5 cm) diameter and 1 ½ inches (4 cm) tall. The cup is 4 inches (10 cm) tall and 5 ½ inches (14 cm) across the double handles.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs...

SOLD A Worcester mug with flared sides decorated in transfer printed underglaze blue of sprigs of natural flowers. Although it is unmarked the transfer on one side is identical to the one shown on the side of a Worcester marked jug shown in plate 282 of Godden’s Caughley and Worcester Porcelains 1775-1800. The transfers are well printed. 3 ¾ inches (9.5 cm) tall and a little more in diameter across the handle.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Minor firing flaws...

The red stencil mark on the base of an “A” with a crown is that of the factory at the Rue Thiroux under Marie Antoinette’s protection. It is decorated with sprigs on the bottom of the inside, dots at the intersection of the open weave sides, stripes of red and blue alternating with white on the base, a blue line around the handle and a gilt rim with dentil gilding on the outside edge...

An intertwined double handled large sauceboat decorated with flowers on both the inside and the outside. Gilding on the base, handles and on the rim with dentil decoration on the outside edge. 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm) tall, 9 inches (23 cm) long and 7 ¼ inches (18 cm) across the handles. Circa 1780.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Gilding wear around the rim and especially on the handles.

SOLD An underglaze blue transfer printed porcelain mug in the “Fisherman” pattern with a loop handle circa 1790. Marked on the bottom with a transfer printed “S.” 3 ¼ inches tall, 3 ¾ inches across the handle.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Good clear printing of the pattern in an even blue.

Nice example of a popular pattern that Caughley used on numerous different pieces of porcelain.

Hard paste fluted handless cup and saucer decorated with a brownish purple edge, flowers and a green and black band with elaborate breaks and red bindings. In the center of the saucer three larger flowers and a single flower at the bottom of the cup. Unmarked though probably Champions, circa 1775. Cup 1 ¾ inches tall, 2 ¾ inches diameter. Saucer 4 5/8 inches diameter.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Very little wear.

Two bowls and a lidded box in blue opaline glass. The bowls undecorated, the box with some gilt. All three French and from the 2nd empire / Napoléon III period, c 1850’s. The blue colour is the same as the “bleu céleste” so much en vogue in Sèvres porcelain of the time. Height of larger bowl: 3 ¼”/8 cm, diameter 4 ¾”/12 cm, diameter of box "2 ¾ / 7 cm. A pair of Milchglas / milk glass cups and saucers with flower decoration in gaudy enamels, made around 1760. Relief moulded wth ribbed and diamond-patterned sides and applied foot rims. The model is to be found in the Corning glass museum collections and elsewhere as originating from the glassworks of Flühli in Swiss Luzern. Diameter of saucers "5 ¼ / 13 cm, of cups "3 ¼/ 8 cm. Condition: one cup with old and yellowed glue repair (cf. pics).
