A large and impressive baroque pewter gift vessel with lid, made in Germany dated 1724!

With a large inscription in fine writing and here dated 1733 by the owner, but on the stamps inside the lid, the maker has dated it 1724. Maker is 'Morten Muhlhiesen Smidt' see original note in German that comes with the sale.

The inscription is a gift inscription perhaps Guild related, to an Andreas Nitchke from Johann Michel Becker, Eisenberg Thürringen...

A lovely and extremely rare type of Westerwald vessel with handle, Germany, c. late 16th.-early 17th. century.

The vessel decorated with fine gothic looking lions and rossettes as spacers with manganese blue.

Size: c. 22 cm. wide incl the handle and 14,3 cm tall.

Condition: Nice Very fine for the early type, completely intact but for a closed crack with short hairlines, just below the handle to the right. Never repaired and very stable and sound.

Early dated European Apothecary jars are very rarely found and this is a great specimen in blue and white glaze and Gothic writing. The mixture held in the jar was 'Sempe De Portulaca'. Albarello shape and quite large.

European silver and enamel compact, ca 1920. Rectangular and hinged. On cover sits a pretty kitty with pink nose, dangling forepaws, and soft thick fur. A portrait of feline docility but beware the intense stare emanating from green dilated eyes. This one looks ready to launch. German Rococo 800 silver snuffbox, ca 1910. Oval with hinged cover; on top is chased scene depicting a large bird confronting two cherubs with soft chubby bodies and ethereal wings. Probably an allusion to some or other episode in Classical mythology, but can be enjoyed without esoteric literary knowledge. Hanau maker’s mark (Wolf & Knell). Very good condition with deep patina.

An antique Japanese temple plaque made from one large solid block of Keyaki (Zelkova) wood. Hand carved on both sides. One side depicts ocean waves which represents polar opposite ideas of peaceful tranquility and powerful ferocity. A finely painted and carved danish Hammer-wood, carved and painted 1826.

The hammer-wood or hammer-board was used when doing laudry together woith the mangleboard, and was made in the same style also for weddings as wall-hangers in the 17th.-19th. century.

This Oak hammer-wood is exceptionally finely carved with fine chiseling of a sun-symbol and geomethic forms.

A very decorative and large antique Hall Lantern, with a lotus in the base since it was meant to hang high, and a crown at the top, Northern European, 18th. century.

The fine bucket hammered in repousee with some wonderful high relief depictions of leafs and cluster of grapes in the baroque manor. A heavy bronze not for table use, fine details cast decoration, probably Flemish, c. 1550!

The early piece of bronze art is decorated with what looks like saints (old bearded men) on the sides and a framed band of angels with spread wings among floral decor nearer the top.
