For the collector of early and folky American furniture, here is a type of chair commonly referred to as a "firehouse" chair, made of wood, painted generally black but with yellow piping stripes along the top rail and seat, and on the legs. There is also a bit of worn red and gold on the spindles holding up the back.....forgive me if I don't use the correct terminology but I am generally an art seller, not a furniture specialist...

Lobed pewter bowl with an etched scenery of a rocky seascape, Mount Fuji in the background. The surface matted, silvery. Meiji period, c 1900, seal mark to the base. Diameter "6 ¼ / 16 cm. Condition: a black spot to the exterior removed by polishing (cf. pics).

A Child's or Doll's Victorian Rocker, ebonized and stenciled. There is modest damage to the cane seat. Dimensions; 23" high x 12.5" wide x 20" deep.

A lidded brass box, made around 1900, Chinese. Small brass medallions with auspicious flowers and birds have been soldered on to the box, and to the front are two enamel and copper medallions with cranes. One medallion is of the shou symbol surrounded by bats. The wooden lining suggests that the box was used for cigars. The back with stamped mark CHINA. Nice format, width "5 ¼ / 13.3 cm, height "2 / 5 cm. Condition: fine.

Pictured is an absolutely fabulous and wonderful Victorian Child's Rocking Chair sporting a fancy crest with an incised design in what appears to beautiful burled walnut. This diminutive gem with beautiful detailing is further embellished with caning woven to its back and seat.

Overall, this heirloom piece flaunts its desirable size with a nice early finish, lovingly curved armrests, perfect-condition caned seat and back, and decoratively turned spindles and front legs...

A Late Victorian Lady's Quilting rocker (low sloping side arms) with a cane back and seat. Fine condition. Dimensions 36" high x 20" wide x 19" deep. It is in fine condition.

A Mahogany Inlaid Child's or Youth's Rocker with a rush seat. Dimensions; 29 1/2" high x 19" wide x 17" deep. There is a back label that states "patented 1890", with a date of manufacture of 1902.

A Victorian Folding Muffin Stand in Ebonized Oak; American circa 1880. Dimensions 35.5" high x 12.25" deep. Good condition.

An American Oak High Chair that Converts into a Stroller with the Release of a Locking Mechanism. Dimensions 36" high x 18" wide x 23" deep as high chair; 31" high x 18" wide x 30" deep as stroller. Circa 1890-1900. Very good condition.

A Victorian Carved Oak Parlor or Occasional Table. Circa 1900. Dimensions 29.5" high x 20" wide x 15.25" deep. Some age spots but in fine condition.

A Victorian Walnut Corner What-not Stand, or Etagere. Dimensions 35.25" high and 15.5" x 15" for base shelf. Circa 1880. Excellent condition.

English hand painted Polychrome floral decorated on Satinwood Foot Stool, 8 1/2" high, 14" x 10 3/4" wide on top frame, with tapered Sheraton style leg with more hand painted decoration of broad leaf, and removable seat frame, lift the seat from the frame and change the fabric, the entire foot stool frame is all original. There are some wear and tear on wood.

Three elongated light blue plaques mounted in antique brass bow frames with screw-on backs. The plagues measure about 2" wide x 3" high, and are in excellent condition. The brass frames measure about 2 1/2" wide by 5 3/4" tall and are also in excellent condition. On the back of each plague is the impressed WEDGWOOD mark, and each also has the lone letter X impressed...

An antique Japanese Kobako (storage box) used for document storage and make entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. Original bronze hardware. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails. 2 full depth drawers.

An American Country Pine Washstand With a Backsplash, circa 1870-1890. Dimensions 26.5" wide x 29" high x 37" high to to of backsplash. Condition appropriate to age.

A fine example of a mid 19th century salesman's sample or doll's chair. This piece is all original, including its red paint and the woven splint seat.

The condition is excellent, with no issues to speak of. 11 1/4" tall, 6 1/2" wide, and 7" deep.

An antique Japanese calligraphy box (Kakesuzuri Bako) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware with locking drawer and working key. Hinged cover opens to a removable tray used to house a calligraphy inkstone and ink sticks. Three drawers for storing writing paper, brushes and money.

An antique Japanese Kyodai (mirror stand) made of beautiful Toneriko (Ash) wood. Articulated swivel mirror opens to a compartment of drawers, shelves and a removable tray where make-up and beauty supplies were stored. Hand mirror slides into its holding slot along the side wall. Original bronze hardware. Side carrying handles were hand carved to depict seashells...

Jerome's & Darrow Federal manner hand made shelf clock with wood works, Bristol CT. Provenance, Martin VanBuren Back, 1835-1920 (may already have been in the family for a generation.) We purchased from his direct descendant, David N. Back in the 1990s. We had the clock last serviced in 2006 and in good running order with reliable chimes. Having invested in preservation, our gain will have been our enjoyment of the clock. 2nd quarter, 19th century. Good condition. Height, about 34 3/4 inches...

Neo-Classical period Continental Biedermeier leather top Writing table with two(2) drawers, circa 1830, possibly Austrian, 28" high, 38" wide, 20" deep, beautiful Walnut veneer side and drawer front, secondary wood is Oak inside dovetailed drawers, supported by simple solid Walnut square tapered legs. New green natural leather top, and some veneer cracks on the corners.

American Sheraton Mahogany upholstered Side Chair with carved Pineapple motif in the middle of the back and Burlwood back inlaid with Brass, slightly curved back frame, Ca. 1810 - 1820, 33" high, 19 1/2" wide for seat front, 18 1/2" high for seat front, carved round tapered legs in front, straight square legs in the back, in clean and good condition.

An antique Japanese Kake Suzuribako (aka calligraphy merchant box) made of Kuri (Chestnut) wood. All original finish and hand forged iron hardware. Hinged lid opens to a storage area where an inkstone and Sumi (ink sticks) were kept. The remainder of the top has a slot where coins were inserted to be kept in the upper drawer out of the sight of wondering eyes. Two additional drawers were used to keep calligraphy brushes and Washi paper used for writing...

An American New England Federal Cherry Candle Stand with a Shaped Top and Spider Legs. Dimensions; top 21.5" x 16.25" x 27" high. Circa 1800-1820. There is an old repair on the top (photo 5) but otherwise in excellent condition for a period piece.

English Georgian period Mahogany Basin or Wash stand for wash bowl, 32" high, 11" diameter-top, 22" wide with Cabriolet legs-maximum measurement, Wash bowl sitting on the top of the frame, the pitcher rest on the bottom shelf inside indented round area, and triangle shape dovetailed deep drawer with brass drop handle is between top and bottom. Heavy duty metal braces on the bottom of three Cabriolet legs supporting turned vertical columns...

An antique Japanese Tansu chest made for Kimono storage and constructed out of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite style handles. Two drawer design perfectly suited as a side chest or low dresser.

A finely made and carved Louis XV style side chair, 19th century. Upholstered with fragments from an 18th century hunt themed tapestry. A charming and atmospheric interior accent. The chair in good, serviceable condition with expected wear. The upholstery simply divine - showing it’s age with conservation preserving its decorative impact. Seat height, about 18 inches. Back height about 38 1/2 inches.

An antique Chinese scholar's stand made of natural gnarled twisted hardwood roots with a transparent russet lacquer. This type of natural root furniture goes back to the 12th century aesthetic. Here is an example of the round stand produced during the Republic Period, bearing the colonial form true to the Victorian Era.

Octagon sided marble top table with an oriental style to the base. This is a simple but beautiful table, measuring 29" tall x 27" in diameter. The marble has two small chips, both in corners, and both not noticeable unless you look very closely. It is in very good condition for its age, which is late 1800s.

English Satinwood octagonal shape small tall table with young girl portrait with floral design in Polychrome colors, 26" high, 13" wide-point to point, with shaped x-cross stretcher join into the tapered square legs, and painted floral and red ribbon on the side, stretcher and legs, entire table is constructed with satinwood. The condition is used, no major damages except painting area is slightly stained with age.

An antique Japanese Ikebana bamboo basket in a long gourd inspired wall pocket design. Vertical ribbed herringbone weave that ends in a star crossed base. Side opening has a metal receptacle where water was kept and flowers were displayed. Upper opening allowed for long stem flowers to be showcased.

19th Century English Brass large Fire Place Fender, Ca. 1830, 51" wide, 10" high, 13 1/2" deep, reticulated leaves, raised round pin wheel, supported by Lion's Paw Feet, nicely polished and ready to put in your home. One bump is noticeable in the photos, backside is reinforced with wrought iron frame.

American Federal style Mahogany with Satinwood inlaid Display Table or Vitrine table, Ca. 1920, 36" high, 22" x 25" wide with chamfered corner. This Vitrine table is very delicate and stylish Hepplewhite style. Lift up glass top, and four(4) sides supported by graceful Hepplewhite style curved legs, small chamfered rectangle shape shelf connected to curved cross stretcher which will make another display shelf at lower level...

A late Federal work table of elegant proportion and lines. The narrow, almost square top on turned pedestal with three reeded spider legs. Original surface with pleasant patina. Good condition. Height 31 inches, width 16 3/4 inches, depth 15 3/4 inches.
