The four compartments separated by three rail and stile partitions with handle, enclosed by openwork lyre sides and turned corner posts with finials, all over two drawer case raised on turned feet. 19th century tortoise shell box on 4 wooden bun feet. Still has with original key and lock works. In very good antique condition, there are some cracks throughout the tortoise shell. One hinge, see last photo, is slightly damaged, but does not comprise the box in that the lid is not loose. Measures 7 5/8 inches wide, 5 1/4" wide, 2 3/4" high

Antique Anglo-Indian carved sandlewood box with nail decoration, ivory banding, velvet lining and paw form ivory feet. Circa 1875.

6" x 4.5"x 2.5" tall

A fancy ornate brass oval frame having trefoil cartouches with leaves and edged with beading encircle the mirror held up by easel stand whose stretcher is detached from the frame. However the stand is still most functional. The frame is a very elegant reminder of a lost craft. Please note that we have painted out the glass mirror - not to hide anything other than the photographer. Dimension: 18" h

Outstanding American late Classical mirror framed in solid well-figured mahogany with a gilt applied composition border of bellflowers. The gilding has a particularly rich patina. The glass is old and 1/4" thick, but probably not original, and has dulled to a very nice patina. The plate is backed with a wood panel that is covered with paper. The nails holding the plate in place have been replaced.

Origin: America, probably mid-Atlantic region, ca. 1840...
