A rare antique Japanese Kusuri Tansu (pharmacy or medicine chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron Warabite handles. Original drawer labels left intact. 20 drawers total. Great chest for filing papers and documents. Unusually wide drawers compared to the ubiquitous tiny drawers of the typical Kusuri Tansu.

An antique Tibetan storage trunk with hard mounts and a hand painted dragon that appears to be dancing holding sacred jewels in each claw. A magnified textile pattern surrounds the dragon design. An antique Japanese Gyosho Bako (street peddler's chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia). All original hand forged iron hardware. Hinged door opens to 5 inner drawers of varying sizes where special wares were stored. 4 upper rings were used in conjunction with rope to provide back pack support. Unusual back handle was used to assist in lifting the Tansu onto ones back.

Medallion representing Napoleon Bonaparte wearing the laurel wreath. The emperor is represented still young. This must be one of the earliest depictions of the emperor, arround 1800-1805. On the edge is inscribed in french "Napoleon the great Emperor and King", the medallion is mounted on a horn box. The medallion is in bronze or gilded copper with a beautiful slightly greenish mercury gilding, it is framed by a strapping of pink metal which must be pink gold. Good condition, no restoration...

This fine small yellow enamel box is beautifully painted with a floral medallion on a white ground, interior with orange and blue floral sprays, base is signed with a crossed pair of blue crossed pointless arrows.
Age: mid-late 1880’s.

The rectangular carved wood with dragons and border with carved bamboo, legs with reticulated dragons and symbols, tabletop border with Shou symbols on each corner with dragons, side panels with carved dragon in high relief with an alternate border of bats and floral motif. The table folds up and the photos show it folded.

A German, domed top chest with ornamental hand wrought iron hardware, heavily oxidized and worn original surface and paint, and marked in white “T Adam Schuch reifst nach New York”. The chest looks like 17th century work. The name and destination likely added in the 18th century upon immigration. Reasonably good decoration considering the history. Length, 35 inches. Height, 17 1/2 inches. Depth, 18 1/2 to 19 inches (varying due to movement of the wood at the joinings).
A finely made and carved Louis XV style side chair, 19th century. Upholstered with fragments from an 18th century hunt themed tapestry. A charming and atmospheric interior accent. The chair in good, serviceable condition with expected wear. The upholstery simply divine - showing it’s age with conservation preserving its decorative impact. Seat height, about 18 inches. Back height about 38 1/2 inches.
